Description:

This engine was put together for a project car of my grandfathers that he has since decided not to complete due to the lack of funds. It was built for a 1960 corvette street rod, and was removed from the car around a month ago. the casting number for the block is #3782870 which i have found to be listed as the higher HP block (250/ 375hp) and the heads are #3782461. It is an early small journal block bored .030 over with a std. Forged crank, 800hp/7200rpm h-beam rods, speedpro hypertetic Teflon skirt flat top pistons, molly rings, double roller timing chain set, and the cam is an elgin 306 intake duration/ 498 intake lift, by 310 exhaust duration/ 510 exhaust lift hydraulic flat tappet. The complete rolling assembly has also been balanced.
The heads are 461 camel hump feullie heads with hardened seats 160/ 62cc port volumes, and 60cc chambers. The valves are stainless trickflow 202 intake/ 160 exhausts machined Teflon stem seals, and double wound valve springs with titanium retainers. They also have summit 1.5 roller rockers, and crane stud girdles installed. The intake manifold is a vintage dual quad offenhuaser that fit well under the hood of the corvette with the two 500cfm edlebrock carbs that are included. The distributor is a Mallory unilite centrifugal advance with a new optical sensor, cap and rotor. The clutch is a centerforce two stage good for 500hp, and the transmission is a Borg-Warner t-10 4-speed with a competition plus Hurst short throw shifter. One of the starters was rewound for high torque
This power train ran excellent with great power between 2600rpm to around 5800rpm yet it only has around 4-5 hours run time on it. this has never been tested on a dyno, yet the machinist that completed the heads claimed that similar projects of his had produced in excess of 450hp and i have no reason to second guess him after having the front drivers wheel pull about 6'' from the ground when we hit second gear with a 370 rearend gear. at the same time it broke the passenger side engine mount off the frame and twisted the front mounting plate on the engine forcing us to add the truck style bellhousing you see in pictures so we could add center mounts and crossmember to the frame. I list it under corvette because with the hardware that is on it it would install in most early 60’s corvettes in a weekend or two. even though the engine is basicly new i list it as an as is sale. if you add the cost of the parts alone i'm sure you will find that the asking price is more than fair and a loss to my grandfather but we will take any reasonable offers so your best offers are welcome
thanks for looking
